Cost and Payment Information FAQ

The clinic accepts most major insurance plans. Out-of-state patients should contact their insurance for authorization and to inform them they are attending an out-of-state university.

If out-of-network, we’ll check benefits and adjust any balance, though higher deductibles/co-insurance may apply. Without out-of-network benefits, you’ll be considered self-pay with a 50% discount.

Yes, but this will require our office to temporarily enroll the provider in your state’s medicaid plan or your coverage may only cover emergency services out of state and require you to be seen through the ER.

A 50% discount will be applied to your bill if you do not have insurance or your insurance does not cover out-of-network. A good faith estimate will be provided prior to your visit.

Student Absence and Classwork Information

A written class/work excuse is given only if a student has been examined by a nurse or nurse practitioner at the Baron Health and Wellness Center and the examiner requests that the student not attend class/work.

In the case of multiple absences due to long-standing illness, the student may request a formal letter be sent to the appropriate faculty member or dean of the Faculty Offices informing them of the student’s medical problem(s). A copy of this letter is also given to the student.

It is the student’s responsibility to attend class. If illness prevents this, the student has the obligation to let the professor know about the absence and how long he or she anticipates being out of class.

Note: Even if a medical excuse is provided, individual professors will decide whether an absence will be excused.

Even if a medical excuse is provided, individual professors will decide whether an absence will be excused. No medical excuse can be given retroactively to a student who was not seen by the staff of the Baron Health and Wellness Center, e.g., if you are sick in the morning and miss class, they will not give you an excuse later that day.

Prior to coming to campus, all students must fill out a Confidential Health Record Form and, if applicable, Immunization Waiver form, which our Health Services Office keeps on file and uses for basic background on a student’s health history. These forms can be access on The Port.
